Dogs, just like any other animals, have similar characteristics with humans. Dogs are often times sensitive, emotional, they tend to their offspring, really territorial, and are affectionate – some traits we humans share with our precious pooch. One more similarity is that dogs also have food allergies at times. There are some foods that dogs should never eat for their body will react over it. Some food allergies on dogs include most types of meat, wheat, milk, whey, eggs, fish, artificial sugars, and chemical preservatives.


When dogs are experiencing allergies due to the foods that they eat, they will experience skin irritations, ear inflammations, ear scratching, more often licking or biting of paws, anal itching, face rubbing, head shaking wheezing, out of appetite, and whining.


It is good to know that food allergies on dogs have remedies. The very first thing that you should do once you determined that your dog is experiencing allergies is to get rid of the potential allergens that are found from the food of your pet. When your dog has allergies on meat, you should substitute it with other protein-filled alternatives such as salmon, duck, or venison among others. Potatoes are also good as an alternative for starch. But you should do adding in the ingredients in your dog’s former diet to his new food one step at a time. That way, you will prevent food allergies on dogs to happen.


It might take a time for some dogs to actually get used to to the new diet plan that is cut out for them, but you should also be patient. Food allergies on dogs should be prevented in order for him to have a better life.
